After being selected as MGO\u2019s 2024 Humanitarian of the Year, Market Growth Director Lindsay Balazsi<\/strong> presented a donation check on behalf of MGO Cares to the Center for Family Justice<\/a> (CFJ), a critical community resource in providing free, confidential, and inclusive services to those affected by domestic and sexual violence. Assurance Partner Michael Corkery<\/a>, based in our Melville office, assisted in the presentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lindsay\u2019s connection with CJF goes beyond this check presentation though. \u201cI worked with them a bit when I was at a law firm years ago,\u201d she said. \u201cI did some of their \u2018Walk a Mile in Her Shoes\u2019 walks, but recently reconnected because a friend of mine is one of their trilingual sex trafficking clinicians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CFJ\u2019s mission is to break the cycle of abuse and violence, providing hope, restoring lives, and driving social change through education and collaboration. It specializes in addressing the trauma of children and teens who have suffered from sexual and domestic abuse, and their services extend to individuals of any gender identity, sexual orientation, or immigration status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Lindsay, the act of giving back goes deeper than financial support. \u201cIt\u2019s so rewarding to help those in need who may not understand the judicial system \u2014 or don\u2019t know how to get out of an abusive situation alone,\u201d she said. \u201cEveryone deserves a chance\u2026 everyone deserves hope in a secure and safe future. This is one way to work towards that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her approach to volunteering comes from a place of compassion, but also practicality. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t take a lot. Just a good attitude, some of your time, and a genuine desire to want better for those in our community. You don\u2019t have to just pour money into a cause.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
